Du'a for Entering and Leaving the Mosque

The two du'as of the masjid door are a matched pair, and the pairing is the point. Going in, the asking is for mercy — the house of Allah as a place of nearness. Going out, the asking is for bounty — the world outside as a place of provision. Both are reported in Muslim 713.

    Allahummaftah li abwaba rahmatik.

    “O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.”

    Said on entering the mosque, after sending salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ.
