Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Living Quran (getlivingquran.com) is operated by tzif.io. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what the app needs to serve you, we show no ads, and we never sell your data.
Information we collect
- Account data: your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash), or your Google / Apple identity if you sign in with OAuth.
- Preferences: your school of thought (madhhab), language, prayer calculation settings, and display preferences.
- Location: if you set a location for prayer times, we store the coordinates and place name you provide. See “Location data” below.
- Activity: your Quran reading progress, favorite and highlighted ayat, prayer logs, and fasting records.
- Conversations: your chats with Noor, the AI companion, so you can return to them later.
- Technical data: device platform, app version, and error reports needed to keep the service running reliably.
How AI conversations are processed
When you message Noor, your conversation is sent to third-party AI providers to generate a response:
- Anthropic processes your messages to generate Noor’s replies.
- OpenAI processes short excerpts to create embeddings — numerical representations that help the app find relevant ayat and past conversations.
Both providers are bound by API agreements under which your data is not used to train their models. We do not use your conversations for advertising, and we never sell them to anyone.
Location data
Prayer times depend on where you are, so the app stores the location you set (or share from your device) solely to calculate them. Your location is never shared with advertisers or data brokers, and you can change or remove it at any time in your settings.
No ads, no selling data
Living Quran shows no advertising of any kind. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers strictly required to run the app (AI providers listed above, hosting, and error monitoring).
Data security and retention
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We keep it only for as long as your account exists; when you delete your account, your personal data — including your conversations with Noor — is deleted.
Your rights (GDPR)
Wherever you live, and in particular under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Delete your account and all associated data, at any time, from your account settings or by contacting us.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected].
Children's privacy
Living Quran contains religious content suitable for all ages and collects no more data from younger users than from anyone else. If you believe a child has created an account without a guardian’s consent, contact us and we will remove it.
Quran text attribution
The Arabic text of the Quran is in the public domain; the edition we use is the verified Uthmani text maintained by Tanzil.net. The English translation is Marmaduke Pickthall's “The Meaning of the Glorious Koran” (1930), also in the public domain. We are grateful to these projects for their careful stewardship of the text.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision.
