Verses
ٱقۡرَأۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth
96:1خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍ
Createth man from a clot
96:2ٱقۡرَأۡ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡأَكۡرَمُ
Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous
96:3ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِٱلۡقَلَمِ
Who teacheth by the pen
96:4عَلَّمَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ
Teacheth man that which he knew not
96:5كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطۡغَىٰٓ
Nay, but verily man is rebellious
96:6أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰٓ
That he thinketh himself independent
96:7إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجۡعَىٰٓ
Lo! unto thy Lord is the return
96:8أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يَنۡهَىٰ
Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth
96:9عَبۡدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
A slave when he prayeth
96:10أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ
Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah)
96:11أَوۡ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقۡوَىٰٓ
Or enjoineth piety
96:12أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward
96:13أَلَمۡ يَعۡلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
Is he then unaware that Allah seeth
96:14كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمۡ يَنتَهِ لَنَسۡفَعَۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock
96:15نَاصِيَةٖ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٖ
The lying, sinful forelock
96:16فَلۡيَدۡعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
Then let him call upon his henchmen
96:17سَنَدۡعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
We will call the guards of hell
96:18كَلَّا لَا تُطِعۡهُ وَٱسۡجُدۡۤ وَٱقۡتَرِب۩
Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah)
96:19
