Verses
وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفّٗا
By those who set the ranks in battle order
37:1فَٱلزَّـٰجِرَٰتِ زَجۡرٗا
And those who drive away (the wicked) with reproof
37:2فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكۡرًا
And those who read (the Word) for a reminder
37:3إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمۡ لَوَٰحِدٞ
Lo! thy Lord is surely One
37:4رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَشَٰرِقِ
Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun's risings
37:5إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلۡكَوَاكِبِ
Lo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets
37:6وَحِفۡظٗا مِّن كُلِّ شَيۡطَٰنٖ مَّارِدٖ
With security from every froward devil
37:7لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡمَلَإِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ وَيُقۡذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٖ
They cannot listen to the Highest Chiefs for they are pelted from every side
37:8دُحُورٗاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ وَاصِبٌ
Outcast, and theirs is a perpetual torment
37:9إِلَّا مَنۡ خَطِفَ ٱلۡخَطۡفَةَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٞ ثَاقِبٞ
Save him who snatcheth a fragment, and there pursueth him a piercing flame
37:10فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَهُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَم مَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَآۚ إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٖ لَّازِبِۭ
Then ask them (O Muhammad): Are they stronger as a creation, or those (others) whom we have created? Lo! We created them of plastic clay
37:11بَلۡ عَجِبۡتَ وَيَسۡخَرُونَ
Nay, but thou dost marvel when they mock
37:12وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُواْ لَا يَذۡكُرُونَ
And heed not when they are reminded
37:13وَإِذَا رَأَوۡاْ ءَايَةٗ يَسۡتَسۡخِرُونَ
And seek to scoff when they behold a portent
37:14وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٌ
And they say: Lo! this is mere magic
37:15أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ
When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised (again)
37:16أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ
And our forefathers
37:17قُلۡ نَعَمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ دَٰخِرُونَ
Say (O Muhammad): Ye, in truth; and ye will be brought low
37:18فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجۡرَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ فَإِذَا هُمۡ يَنظُرُونَ
There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold
37:19وَقَالُواْ يَٰوَيۡلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ
And say: Ah, woe for us! This is the Day of Judgment
37:20هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
This is the Day of Separation, which ye used to deny
37:21۞ٱحۡشُرُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ وَأَزۡوَٰجَهُمۡ وَمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡبُدُونَ
(And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship
37:22مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهۡدُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell
37:23وَقِفُوهُمۡۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسۡـُٔولُونَ
And stop them, for they must be questioned
37:24مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ
What aileth you that ye help not one another
37:25بَلۡ هُمُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ مُسۡتَسۡلِمُونَ
Nay, but this day they make full submission
37:26وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning
37:27قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَأۡتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ
They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth)
37:28قَالُواْ بَل لَّمۡ تَكُونُواْ مُؤۡمِنِينَ
They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers
37:29وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيۡكُم مِّن سُلۡطَٰنِۭۖ بَلۡ كُنتُمۡ قَوۡمٗا طَٰغِينَ
We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk
37:30فَحَقَّ عَلَيۡنَا قَوۡلُ رَبِّنَآۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ
Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom)
37:31فَأَغۡوَيۡنَٰكُمۡ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَ
Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray
37:32فَإِنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ فِي ٱلۡعَذَابِ مُشۡتَرِكُونَ
Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom
37:33إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
Lo! thus deal We with the guilty
37:34إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوٓاْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ
For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful
37:35وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓاْ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٖ مَّجۡنُونِۭ
And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet
37:36بَلۡ جَآءَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him)
37:37إِنَّكُمۡ لَذَآئِقُواْ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَلِيمِ
Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom
37:38وَمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ
Ye are requited naught save what ye did
37:39إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
Save single-minded slaves of Allah
37:40أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ رِزۡقٞ مَّعۡلُومٞ
For them there is a known provision
37:41فَوَٰكِهُ وَهُم مُّكۡرَمُونَ
Fruits. And they will be honoured
37:42فِي جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
In the Gardens of delight
37:43عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
On couches facing one another
37:44يُطَافُ عَلَيۡهِم بِكَأۡسٖ مِّن مَّعِينِۭ
A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them
37:45بَيۡضَآءَ لَذَّةٖ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ
White, delicious to the drinkers
37:46لَا فِيهَا غَوۡلٞ وَلَا هُمۡ عَنۡهَا يُنزَفُونَ
Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby
37:47وَعِندَهُمۡ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ عِينٞ
And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes
37:48كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيۡضٞ مَّكۡنُونٞ
(Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich)
37:49فَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning
37:50قَالَ قَآئِلٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٞ
A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade
37:51يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُصَدِّقِينَ
Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)
37:52أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ
Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book
37:53قَالَ هَلۡ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ
He saith: Will ye look
37:54فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِي سَوَآءِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell
37:55قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرۡدِينِ
He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin
37:56وَلَوۡلَا نِعۡمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُحۡضَرِينَ
And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom)
37:57أَفَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ
Are we then not to die
37:58إِلَّا مَوۡتَتَنَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished
37:59إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ
Lo! this is the supreme triumph
37:60لِمِثۡلِ هَٰذَا فَلۡيَعۡمَلِ ٱلۡعَٰمِلُونَ
For the like of this, then, let the workers work
37:61أَذَٰلِكَ خَيۡرٞ نُّزُلًا أَمۡ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum
37:62إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَٰهَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers
37:63إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٞ تَخۡرُجُ فِيٓ أَصۡلِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell
37:64طَلۡعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ
Its crop is as it were the heads of devils
37:65فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَأٓكِلُونَ مِنۡهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡبُطُونَ
And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith
37:66ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا لَشَوۡبٗا مِّنۡ حَمِيمٖ
And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water
37:67ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرۡجِعَهُمۡ لَإِلَى ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell
37:68إِنَّهُمۡ أَلۡفَوۡاْ ءَابَآءَهُمۡ ضَآلِّينَ
They indeed found their fathers astray
37:69فَهُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمۡ يُهۡرَعُونَ
But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps
37:70وَلَقَدۡ ضَلَّ قَبۡلَهُمۡ أَكۡثَرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
And verily most of the men of old went astray before them
37:71وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
And verily We sent among them warners
37:72فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ
Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned
37:73إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
Save single-minded slaves of Allah
37:74وَلَقَدۡ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٞ فَلَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمُجِيبُونَ
And Noah verily prayed unto Us, and gracious was the Hearer of his prayer
37:75وَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
And We saved him and his household from the great distress
37:76وَجَعَلۡنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلۡبَاقِينَ
And made his seed the survivors
37:77وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
And left for him among the later folk (the salutation)
37:78سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٖ فِي ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Peace be unto Noah among the peoples
37:79إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Lo! thus do We reward the good
37:80إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves
37:81ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ
Then We did drown the others
37:82۞وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
And lo! of his persuasion verily was Abraham
37:83إِذۡ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلۡبٖ سَلِيمٍ
When he came unto his Lord with a whole heart
37:84إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعۡبُدُونَ
When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship
37:85أَئِفۡكًا ءَالِهَةٗ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ
Is it a falsehood - gods beside Allah - that ye desire
37:86فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
What then is your opinion of the Lord of the Worlds
37:87فَنَظَرَ نَظۡرَةٗ فِي ٱلنُّجُومِ
And he glanced a glance at the stars
37:88فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٞ
Then said: Lo! I feel sick
37:89فَتَوَلَّوۡاْ عَنۡهُ مُدۡبِرِينَ
And they turned their backs and went away from him
37:90فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمۡ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأۡكُلُونَ
Then turned he to their gods and said: Will ye not eat
37:91مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنطِقُونَ
What aileth you that ye speak not
37:92فَرَاغَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ضَرۡبَۢا بِٱلۡيَمِينِ
Then he attacked them, striking with his right hand
37:93فَأَقۡبَلُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهِ يَزِفُّونَ
And (his people) came toward him, hastening
37:94قَالَ أَتَعۡبُدُونَ مَا تَنۡحِتُونَ
He said: Worship ye that which ye yourselves do carve
37:95وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ
When Allah hath created you and what ye make
37:96قَالُواْ ٱبۡنُواْ لَهُۥ بُنۡيَٰنٗا فَأَلۡقُوهُ فِي ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
They said: Build for him a building and fling him in the red-hotfire
37:97فَأَرَادُواْ بِهِۦ كَيۡدٗا فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمُ ٱلۡأَسۡفَلِينَ
And they designed a snare for him, but We made them the undermost
37:98وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي سَيَهۡدِينِ
And he said: Lo! I am going unto my Lord Who will guide me
37:99رَبِّ هَبۡ لِي مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous
37:100فَبَشَّرۡنَٰهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ حَلِيمٖ
So We gave him tidings of a gentle son
37:101فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعۡيَ قَالَ يَٰبُنَيَّ إِنِّيٓ أَرَىٰ فِي ٱلۡمَنَامِ أَنِّيٓ أَذۡبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرۡ مَاذَا تَرَىٰۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفۡعَلۡ مَا تُؤۡمَرُۖ سَتَجِدُنِيٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
And when (his son) was old enough to walk with him, (Abraham) said: O my dear son, I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice thee. So look, what thinkest thou? He said: O my father! Do that which thou art commanded. Allah willing, thou shalt find me of the steadfast
37:102فَلَمَّآ أَسۡلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلۡجَبِينِ
Then, when they had both surrendered (to Allah), and he had flung him down upon his face
37:103وَنَٰدَيۡنَٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبۡرَٰهِيمُ
We called unto him: O Abraham
37:104قَدۡ صَدَّقۡتَ ٱلرُّءۡيَآۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Thou hast already fulfilled the vision. Lo! thus do We reward the good
37:105إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡبَلَـٰٓؤُاْ ٱلۡمُبِينُ
Lo! that verily was a clear test
37:106وَفَدَيۡنَٰهُ بِذِبۡحٍ عَظِيمٖ
Then We ransomed him with a tremendous victim
37:107وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation)
37:108سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
Peace be unto Abraham
37:109كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Thus do We reward the good
37:110إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves
37:111وَبَشَّرۡنَٰهُ بِإِسۡحَٰقَ نَبِيّٗا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
And we gave him tidings of the birth of Isaac, a prophet of the righteous
37:112وَبَٰرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسۡحَٰقَۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحۡسِنٞ وَظَالِمٞ لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ مُبِينٞ
And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves
37:113وَلَقَدۡ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
And We verily gave grace unto Moses and Aaron
37:114وَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُمَا وَقَوۡمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
And saved them and their people from the great distress
37:115وَنَصَرۡنَٰهُمۡ فَكَانُواْ هُمُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبِينَ
And helped them so that they became the victors
37:116وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمَا ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَبِينَ
And We gave them the clear Scripture
37:117وَهَدَيۡنَٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ
And showed them the right path
37:118وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمَا فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
And We left for them among the later folk (the salutation)
37:119سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
Peace be unto Moses and Aaron
37:120إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Lo! thus do We reward the good
37:121إِنَّهُمَا مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Lo! they are two of Our believing slaves
37:122وَإِنَّ إِلۡيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
And lo! Elias was of those sent (to warn)
37:123إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
When he said unto his folk: Will ye not ward off (evil)
37:124أَتَدۡعُونَ بَعۡلٗا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحۡسَنَ ٱلۡخَٰلِقِينَ
Will ye cry unto Baal and forsake the Best of creators
37:125ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمۡ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Allah, your Lord and Lord of your forefathers
37:126فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ
But they denied him, so they surely will be haled forth (to the doom)
37:127إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
Save single-minded slaves of Allah
37:128وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
And we left for him among the later folk (the salutation)
37:129سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلۡ يَاسِينَ
Peace be unto Elias
37:130إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Lo! thus do We reward the good
37:131إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Lo! he is one of our believing slaves
37:132وَإِنَّ لُوطٗا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
And lo! Lot verily was of those sent (to warn)
37:133إِذۡ نَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥٓ أَجۡمَعِينَ
When We saved him and his household, every one
37:134إِلَّا عَجُوزٗا فِي ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ
Save an old woman among those who stayed behind
37:135ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ
Then We destroyed the others
37:136وَإِنَّكُمۡ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيۡهِم مُّصۡبِحِينَ
And lo! ye verily pass by (the ruin of) them in the morning
37:137وَبِٱلَّيۡلِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ
And at night-time; have ye then no sense
37:138وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn)
37:139إِذۡ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ
When he fled unto the laden ship
37:140فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُدۡحَضِينَ
And then drew lots and was of those rejected
37:141فَٱلۡتَقَمَهُ ٱلۡحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٞ
And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy
37:142فَلَوۡلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحِينَ
And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah)
37:143لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطۡنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يُبۡعَثُونَ
He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised
37:144۞فَنَبَذۡنَٰهُ بِٱلۡعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٞ
Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick
37:145وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ شَجَرَةٗ مِّن يَقۡطِينٖ
And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him
37:146وَأَرۡسَلۡنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِاْئَةِ أَلۡفٍ أَوۡ يَزِيدُونَ
And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more
37:147فَـَٔامَنُواْ فَمَتَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ حِينٖ
And they believed, therefor We gave them comfort for a while
37:148فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلۡبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ
Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons
37:149أَمۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثٗا وَهُمۡ شَٰهِدُونَ
Or created We the angels females while they were present
37:150أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنۡ إِفۡكِهِمۡ لَيَقُولُونَ
Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say
37:151وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَٰذِبُونَ
Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie
37:152أَصۡطَفَى ٱلۡبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلۡبَنِينَ
(And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons
37:153مَا لَكُمۡ كَيۡفَ تَحۡكُمُونَ
What aileth you? How judge ye
37:154أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Will ye not then reflect
37:155أَمۡ لَكُمۡ سُلۡطَٰنٞ مُّبِينٞ
Or have ye a clear warrant
37:156فَأۡتُواْ بِكِتَٰبِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ
Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful
37:157وَجَعَلُواْ بَيۡنَهُۥ وَبَيۡنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ نَسَبٗاۚ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمَتِ ٱلۡجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ
And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him)
37:158سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him)
37:159إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
Save single-minded slaves of Allah
37:160فَإِنَّكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ
Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship
37:161مَآ أَنتُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ
Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him
37:162إِلَّا مَنۡ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Save him who is to burn in hell
37:163وَمَامِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٞ مَّعۡلُومٞ
There is not one of us but hath his known position
37:164وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ
Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks
37:165وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحُونَ
Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise
37:166وَإِن كَانُواْ لَيَقُولُونَ
And indeed they used to say
37:167لَوۡ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكۡرٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
If we had but a reminder from the men of old
37:168لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
We would be single-minded slaves of Allah
37:169فَكَفَرُواْ بِهِۦۖ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ
Yet (now that it is come) they disbelieve therein; but they will come to know
37:170وَلَقَدۡ سَبَقَتۡ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn)
37:171إِنَّهُمۡ لَهُمُ ٱلۡمَنصُورُونَ
That they verily would be helped
37:172وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبُونَ
And that Our host, they verily would be the victors
37:173فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖ
So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile
37:174وَأَبۡصِرۡهُمۡ فَسَوۡفَ يُبۡصِرُونَ
And watch, for they will (soon) see
37:175أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
Would they hasten on Our doom
37:176فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمۡ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ
But when it cometh home to them, then it will be a hapless morn for those who have been warned
37:177وَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖ
Withdraw from them awhile
37:178وَأَبۡصِرۡ فَسَوۡفَ يُبۡصِرُونَ
And watch, for they will (soon) see
37:179سُبۡحَٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلۡعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him)
37:180وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
And peace be unto those sent (to warn)
37:181وَٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
And praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds
