Surah Ash-Sharh (The Relief)

Ash-Sharh is the 94th chapter of the Quran, a brief Meccan surah of 8 ayahs. It is closely associated with the preceding surah, Ad-Duhaa, and continues its consoling tone, addressed to the Prophet Muhammad. The surah recalls how his heart was opened and his burden lifted, and how his standing was raised. Its best-known passage assures that with hardship comes ease, a statement repeated for emphasis and widely quoted as a principle of hope in difficulty. The surah then encourages that once one task is completed, one should turn earnestly to further striving and devotion, directing one's focus and longing toward God. Though very short, Ash-Sharh is rich in encouragement, framing relief not as the end of effort but as a reason to continue working with renewed purpose and trust.
