Surah Muhammad (Muhammad)

Muhammad is the 47th chapter of the Quran, traditionally classified as Medinan, comprising 38 ayahs. Revealed in the Medinan period when the early community faced organized opposition, it addresses commitment, perseverance, and the contrast between those who accept the message and those who obstruct it. The surah speaks to steadfastness in the face of hardship and the conduct expected of believers during trials, including passages traditionally understood to concern conflict and its aftermath. It emphasizes obedience to God and the Prophet, warns against turning back after guidance and against hypocrisy, and describes the enduring reward promised to the sincere alongside the loss awaiting those who reject the truth. It also cautions against attachment to worldly life at the expense of higher purpose.
