Al-Basit — The Expander

Al-Basit is the One who expands and extends — opening provision, widening the chest with contentment, and giving in abundance. It is the counterpart of Al-Qabid, and classical scholars insist the pair be held together, since the same wisdom lies behind both the giving and the withholding. The Quran describes Allah as extending provision to whom He wills and restricting it (13:26), so expansion is never an accident or a reward a person has forced. A chest opened to faith is the working of this name as much as wealth is.
