Al-Malik — The Sovereign
Al-Malik is the King whose dominion is real and absolute, unlike every human sovereignty that is borrowed and temporary. A king among people owns his throne for a time and by the consent of others; Allah's kingship depends on nothing and is answerable to no one. The Quran names Him Al-Malik at the head of the sequence in 59:23, before the names of purity and peace that follow. On the Day of Judgement the question is asked aloud — 'To whom belongs the dominion today?' — and answered: to Allah, the One, the Prevailing.

هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡقُدُّوسُ ٱلسَّلَٰمُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُ ٱلۡمُهَيۡمِنُ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡجَبَّارُ ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرُۚ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ
He is Allah, than Whom there is no other Allah, the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One, Peace, the Keeper of Faith, the Guardian, the Majestic, the Compeller, the Superb. Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)
