Al-Mu'akhkhir — The Delayer
Al-Mu'akhkhir is the One who puts back and delays whom and what He wills, the counterpart of Al-Muqaddim. The Quran describes the action — Allah delays people to an appointed term (14:42) — while the name itself reaches us through the enumeration. Classical scholars find in the pair a settled answer to impatience: a delay is a placement, chosen by the One who orders all things, not an oversight. What is late is not therefore denied.
