Al-Wakil — The Trustee
Al-Wakil is the One to whom affairs are entrusted and who manages them perfectly. To take Allah as wakil is to hand over the outcome after doing what you can, which is why the Quran pairs the name with tawakkul rather than passivity. When the believers were warned of a gathered enemy, their answer was 'sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best Disposer of affairs' (3:173). Classical scholars stress that entrusting affairs to Him does not remove the duty to take the means.

وَيَقُولُونَ طَاعَةٞ فَإِذَا بَرَزُواْ مِنۡ عِندِكَ بَيَّتَ طَآئِفَةٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ غَيۡرَ ٱلَّذِي تَقُولُۖ وَٱللَّهُ يَكۡتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُونَۖ فَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡهُمۡ وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًا
And they say: (It is) obedience; but when they have gone forth from thee a party of them spend the night in planning other than what thou sayest. Allah recordeth what they plan by night. So oppose them and put thy trust in Allah. Allah is sufficient as Trustee
