Verses

  1. إِذَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡ

    When the sun is overthrown

    81:1
  2. وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتۡ

    And when the stars fall

    81:2
  3. وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡ

    And when the hills are moved

    81:3
  4. وَإِذَا ٱلۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ

    And when the camels big with young are abandoned

    81:4
  5. وَإِذَا ٱلۡوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتۡ

    And when the wild beasts are herded together

    81:5
  6. وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡ

    And when the seas rise

    81:6
  7. وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتۡ

    And when souls are reunited

    81:7
  8. وَإِذَا ٱلۡمَوۡءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتۡ

    And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked

    81:8
  9. بِأَيِّ ذَنۢبٖ قُتِلَتۡ

    For what sin she was slain

    81:9
  10. وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡ

    And when the pages are laid open

    81:10
  11. وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتۡ

    And when the sky is torn away

    81:11
  12. وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتۡ

    And when hell is lighted

    81:12
  13. وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَنَّةُ أُزۡلِفَتۡ

    And when the Garden is brought nigh

    81:13
  14. عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٞ مَّآ أَحۡضَرَتۡ

    (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready

    81:14
  15. فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلۡخُنَّسِ

    Oh, but I call to witness the planets

    81:15
  16. ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡكُنَّسِ

    The stars which rise and set

    81:16
  17. وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا عَسۡعَسَ

    And the close of night

    81:17
  18. وَٱلصُّبۡحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ

    And the breath of morning

    81:18
  19. إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولٖ كَرِيمٖ

    That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger

  20. ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي ٱلۡعَرۡشِ مَكِينٖ

    Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne

  21. مُّطَاعٖ ثَمَّ أَمِينٖ

    (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy

    81:21
  22. وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجۡنُونٖ

    And your comrade is not mad

    81:22
  23. وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ

    Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon

    81:23
  24. وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِينٖ

    And he is not avid of the Unseen

    81:24
  25. وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٖ

    Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned

    81:25
  26. فَأَيۡنَ تَذۡهَبُونَ

    Whither then go ye

    81:26
  27. إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرٞ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

    This is naught else than a reminder unto creation

    81:27
  28. لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمۡ أَن يَسۡتَقِيمَ

    Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight

    81:28
  29. وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

    And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation

    81:29
