Quran Verses About Hope
The Quran treats despair as the one thing a believer cannot afford: 'despair not of relief from Allah' (12:87). Hope is grounded in promises — with hardship comes ease (94:5-6), whoever fears Allah is given a way out (65:2-3), and 'your Lord has not taken leave of you' (93:3). These ten ayahs are the Quran's antidote to giving up.

- Surah Yusuf 12:87
يَٰبَنِيَّ ٱذۡهَبُواْ فَتَحَسَّسُواْ مِن يُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ وَلَا تَاْيۡـَٔسُواْ مِن رَّوۡحِ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يَاْيۡـَٔسُ مِن رَّوۡحِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ
Go, O my sons, and ascertain concerning Joseph and his brother, and despair not of the Spirit of Allah. Lo! none despaireth of the Spirit of Allah save disbelieving folk
Yaqub sends his sons to search again after decades of grief — only the disbelieving despair of relief from Allah.
- Surah Ash-Sharh 94:5
فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرًا
But lo! with hardship goeth ease
The promise that carries believers through every low season — with hardship there is ease.
- Surah Ash-Sharh 94:6
إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرٗا
Lo! with hardship goeth ease
Repeated verbatim in the next breath — indeed, with hardship there is ease — a doubled guarantee.

وَيَرۡزُقۡهُ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا يَحۡتَسِبُۚ وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسۡبُهُۥٓۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَٰلِغُ أَمۡرِهِۦۚ قَدۡ جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لِكُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدۡرٗا
And will provide for him from (a quarter) whence he hath no expectation. And whosoever putteth his trust in Allah, He will suffice him. Lo! Allah bringeth His command to pass. Allah hath set a measure for all things
Provision from where you do not expect — for whoever relies on Allah, He alone is sufficient.
- Surah Al-Hijr 15:56
قَالَ وَمَن يَقۡنَطُ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
He said: And who despaireth of the mercy of his Lord save those who are astray
Ibrahim's rhetorical question — who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except those astray?
- Surah Ghafir 40:60
وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ٱدۡعُونِيٓ أَسۡتَجِبۡ لَكُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدۡخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ
And your Lord hath said: Pray unto Me and I will hear your prayer. Lo! those who scorn My service, they will enter hell, disgraced
Hope has a mechanism — 'call upon Me; I will respond to you' — dua is answered, not ignored.
- Surah Ad-Duhaa 93:3
مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ
Thy Lord hath not forsaken thee nor doth He hate thee
Revealed when revelation paused and the Prophet feared abandonment — your Lord has not taken leave of you, nor does He detest you.
- Surah Ad-Duhaa 93:4
وَلَلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرٞ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ
And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former
What is ahead outweighs what is behind — the Hereafter is better for you than the first life.
- Surah Ad-Duhaa 93:5
وَلَسَوۡفَ يُعۡطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرۡضَىٰٓ
And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content
A future-tense promise of satisfaction — your Lord is going to give you, and you will be pleased.
- Surah Ar-Rum 30:60
فَٱصۡبِرۡ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞۖ وَلَا يَسۡتَخِفَّنَّكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُوقِنُونَ
So have patience (O Muhammad)! Allah's promise is the very truth, and let not those who have no certainty make thee impatient
The ground of all hope — be patient, for the promise of Allah is truth; let no doubter shake you.
