Al-Hafiz — The Preserver
Al-Hafiz is the One who preserves and protects — guarding creation from dissolution, keeping the record of every deed, and safeguarding whoever He wills. Nothing He preserves is lost and nothing recorded is forgotten. The Quran has Hud tell his people that his Lord is Guardian over all things (11:57), said in the face of their threats. Classical scholars connect the name to Allah's promise to preserve the Quran itself (15:9), which is why the one who memorizes it is called a hafiz.

فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَقَدۡ أَبۡلَغۡتُكُم مَّآ أُرۡسِلۡتُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَيۡكُمۡۚ وَيَسۡتَخۡلِفُ رَبِّي قَوۡمًا غَيۡرَكُمۡ وَلَا تَضُرُّونَهُۥ شَيۡـًٔاۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٍ حَفِيظٞ
And if ye turn away, still I have conveyed unto you that wherewith I was sent unto you, and my Lord will set in place of you a folk other than you. Ye cannot injure Him at all. Lo! my Lord is Guardian over all things
