Al-Jabbar — The Compeller, the Restorer
Al-Jabbar carries a double sense that is easy to miss. The root jabr means to set a broken bone — to mend what is fractured — and also to compel. So the name describes the One whose will prevails over all things and who at the same time restores and repairs the broken. Classical scholars hold both meanings together: His irresistible power is the very thing that makes His mending effective. When used of a human being the word is a criticism, but of Allah it is praise, because only He has the right to it.

هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡقُدُّوسُ ٱلسَّلَٰمُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُ ٱلۡمُهَيۡمِنُ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡجَبَّارُ ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرُۚ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ
He is Allah, than Whom there is no other Allah, the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One, Peace, the Keeper of Faith, the Guardian, the Majestic, the Compeller, the Superb. Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)
