Al-Muhaymin — The Guardian and Witness

Al-Muhaymin is the One who watches over all things, preserving and safeguarding them, with nothing escaping His oversight. Commentators gather three senses into the name: witness over creation, guardian of it, and the One who determines what it is due. The Quran also uses the word for the Quran itself as a guardian over the scriptures before it (5:48), which illuminates the sense of a watchful authority that both preserves and judges. Nothing happens outside the sight of Al-Muhaymin.
