Al-Muhsi — The Accounter

Al-Muhsi is the One who counts and enumerates all things exactly, missing nothing however small. The name comes through the enumeration of the names; the Quran states the action, saying He has enumerated all things in number (72:28) and that He has counted them while they forgot (58:6). Classical scholars link it to the record of deeds: nothing a person does is lost or approximated. The same root gives ihsa', the enumerating of the ninety-nine names itself.
