Al-Muqtadir — The Omnipotent

Al-Muqtadir is the intensification of Al-Qadir — the One whose power is perfectly executed, bringing about exactly what He determines. Classical scholars explain the difference as one of realization: Al-Qadir names the ability, Al-Muqtadir names its unfailing accomplishment. The Quran uses it at the close of the account of past nations, naming the seizure of One Mighty, Omnipotent (54:42). It also appears with the image of everything being written down before Him (54:53).
