Al-Wahid — The One
Al-Wahid is the One in every sense — one in His essence, with no parts; one in His attributes, with no equal; one in His acts, with no partner. The name is the foundation of tawhid, the central claim of Islam. The Quran nearly always pairs it with Al-Qahhar, the Prevailing (39:4), which classical scholars read as connected: because He alone is truly One, everything else is subject to Him. Anything that could be divided or duplicated would not be Wahid.

لَّوۡ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدٗا لَّٱصۡطَفَىٰ مِمَّا يَخۡلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُۚ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥۖ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡوَٰحِدُ ٱلۡقَهَّارُ
If Allah had willed to choose a son, He could have chosen what He would of that which He hath created. Be He Glorified! He is Allah, the One, the Absolute
