Ar-Rashid — The Guide to the Right Path

Ar-Rashid is the One whose direction is perfectly sound, who guides to what is right and whose own management needs no correction. Classical scholars distinguish rushd from hidayah by content: hidayah is being shown the way, rushd is soundness of judgement in walking it. The name comes through the enumeration rather than as a Quranic title, while the Quran uses the root throughout for right direction (e.g. 18:10). Nothing He decrees is misguided, even where a person cannot see why.
