As-Salam — The Source of Peace
As-Salam is the One who is free from all deficiency and from whom all safety and peace come. The name is understood in two directions at once: Allah is Himself untouched by fault or harm, and He is the giver of peace to His creation — the greeting of Paradise is salam, and its people are welcomed with it. The same root gives Islam and Muslim, so the name sits at the centre of the religion's vocabulary. A Muslim who says 'as-salamu alaykum' is invoking the peace that belongs to Allah.

هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡقُدُّوسُ ٱلسَّلَٰمُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُ ٱلۡمُهَيۡمِنُ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡجَبَّارُ ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرُۚ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ
He is Allah, than Whom there is no other Allah, the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One, Peace, the Keeper of Faith, the Guardian, the Majestic, the Compeller, the Superb. Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)
