Al-Baqi — The Everlasting
Al-Baqi is the One who remains when everything else has passed away — permanence that belongs to Him alone. The Quran states it as the plainest of contrasts: everyone upon the earth will perish, and there will remain the Face of your Lord, Possessor of Majesty and Honour (55:26-27). Classical scholars read the name as the measure of what is worth pursuing, since the Quran calls the lasting good deeds al-baqiyat as-salihat (18:46). The name reaches us through the enumeration.
